Why MasterChef is Better Than Hell's Kitchen

Do you like Hell's Kitchen? C'mon admit it; you love to hear Chef Gordon Ramsay shred contestants' big egos like so much provolone. If you are 'hungry' for a competitive cooking show beyond Hell's Kitchen check out FOX Master Chef. Here's why I like Master Chef better than Hell's Kitchen.

Having a panel of chefs, means contestants don't rise or fall on one chefs opinion.

Instead of culinary arts trained chefs competing for five star restaurant jobs, MasterChef brings the competition to an amateur level. Anyone may apply to compete--EXCEPT trained chefs.

As with other reality count down competitions (The Voice, AGT) the contestant pool is wide open.

Chefs start by cooking their signature dish instead of having to prepare something they don't know to qualify.

I like the challenges better: Mystery Box (contestants each get the same ingredients to spin as they can), Invention tests have contestants choose a theme ingredient. In the Pressure test, each creates a dish in a certain time frame. In the Celebrity Challenge, contestants participate in cook-offs against famous chefs. I like that they have to weave in one really bizarre ingredient or combine unlikely ingredients.
